Effect of Tampons on the Vagina

Effects of Tampons

Tampons are cotton products designed to absorb menstrual blood by being placed high up in the vaginal cavity near the cervix. These are held in place by the vaginal muscles, and until it gets full, do not remove.

Tampons are one of the biggest inventions of all times, but not all can use them easily. There are tampons that require a finger to push up and some with applicators. These can affect the vagina in various ways.

1.  A tampon gets left inside the vagina for too long:

If a tampon gets left inside the vagina for too long, what happens is the blood on it begins to decompose and stinks like rotting meat. The reason is since it is rotting blood, and causes an overgrowth of bad bacteria, which feed off the blood in the low-acid environment that is created by menstrual blood.

This has negative implications for your vaginal cells as bad bacteria have negative collisions on cells, which at times even causes cell death. A vagina will not rot away, and you usually won’t get stick because you will notice before it becomes a huge problem.

2. Tampons dry your vagina out:

Such tampons should not be used if your vagina is too dry and not feeling comfy. Tampons absorb the natural lubricant in your vagina, therefore shouldn’t be using them when there’s no presence of periods bleeding or you have a solid reason to do so. This might include cleaning up the other fluids when you are not wearing underpants, wearing special underwear, or you might have excessive discharge.

If you have excess vaginal fluids, you may have a problem, which requires attention, since it is abnormal for there to be copious discharge. The reason might include a yeast infection, a dairy intolerance, or another infection.

3. Tampons can lead to small cuts to appear in or around your vaginal opening:

Placing in tampons takes some practice and at times a little help. If you find you are hurting yourself while attempting to insert a tampon, try using a brand, which provides an applicator and a small amount of water-based lubricant. This can help you to make it very easy, smooth and cut free. Such cuts are called labial fissures or vaginal fissures and will go away on their own.

4. Allergies can cause small ulcers and pain or irritation on the vulva and inside the vagina:

The most typical sort of vaginal allergy can be from latex and the plant fibers or manufacturing ingredients in tampons and can get seriously uncomfortable. So far there no proof that latex is present pads or tampons, however, there are a number of other irritants potentially present for sensitive people. The best way around a tampon allergy is to try 100% organic cotton tampons, devoid of any dyes, fragrances, or bleaches, and see if the help.
